    I used publicly available datasets

Both are quantitative variables with a wide range of values making them decent candidates for a first digit analysis. Using Python, I pulled out the first digit of each test score from both datasets. Then, I counted how frequently each digit (1-9) occurred. For Massachusetts 4th grade scores digits 5, 6, and 7 dominated and very few scores started with a 1, 2, or 9. For California math scores the distribution was more spread out, with 5 and 6 still common, but smaller digits showing up more often compared to Massachusetts.

      – Why did you choose this dataset?

I chose this dataset because I like aviation and I grew up in Europe watching planes fly over my house every day.

           – Where can I find this dataset? (Kaggle link to dataset)

    https://www.kaggle.com/datasets/umerhaddii/european-flights-dataset

           – What did you observe?

The data shows that only a small share of Latvia’s annual flights happen in January. This suggests that Latvia has a fairly seasonal flight pattern with activity happening more outside of the winter months which makes sense because people fly more during summer break.

           – What analysis would you want to do next given these results?

I’d want to analyze year round flight traffic in Latvia compared to a larger hub like London Heathrow or Frankfurt Germany.
